It’s shocking to witness the amount of damage that can be done when we vote a political party into power that has absolutely zero concern for the future of the planet.
Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith, and his “boss” Mr. Ford, have shown time and again their disregard for our natural spaces, and our right to have clean renewable energy for a healthier planet.
Our farmland, woodlands, wetlands, threatened species, our mental and physical health, and a green energy future mean nothing to Mr. Smith or Mr. Ford, as they proved their first week in power when they announced that the White Pines Wind Farm and another 755 green energy contracts were to be trashed immediately.
Five years after announcing the demolition of the County’s wind farm, I think it is time Mr. Smith and Mr. Ford share the facts with the public and reveal the truth about the dollar amount that has been and continues to be wasted to do their dirty deed. The job is not even completed yet. Don’t be fooled by what you don’t see. It is simply “out of sight, out of mind,” and after all these years there is still a lot of cleanup to be done. Our tax dollars are still being wasted on this travesty.
Mr. Smith said it wouldn’t be even close to costing $100,000,000. Last I heard about a year ago it was over $150,000,000 and rising daily.
However, the negative environmental impact caused by the production and destruction of our nine-turbine wind farm (without an ounce of productive energy ever even being created) is much more serious and harder to accept than the dollar amount lost.
Apparently Ford hates wind farms and as he once said, he would tear every one of them down if he could. While other communities are embracing the idea of a clean green renewable future, Ford and Smith are on a backwards mission to destroy as much of our natural space and green energy plans as they can in as little time as possible. So much for their promises: obviously money speaks louder than words.
