I read with interest your article about The Dukes’ newly hired General Manager and new Coach. My question concerns the actions of the former G.M., Coach Derek Smith.
Is it ethical that he traded players to Trenton and “only then” resigned Wellington to take a coaching position with Trenton? Should not the OJHL investigate and, perhaps, reward Mr. Smith with a five-year ban from coaching — along with nullifying the trade which I think damages the integrity and credibility of the entire OJHL?
What is to stop any G.M. or Coach from approaching a team for a position with the promise of trading good players if he is hired subsequent to his trading players, then resigning his previous team to be only then, after he has delivered, hired by the new team which has been gifted by his trades?
Thank you for keeping us up to date and allowing me to express my views.
