Letters to Santa, 1933

Dear Santa Claus:–As I heard you were in Picton I thought I would write. Are you coming to our Christmas concert? I wish you would. It is on the 21st of December. I heard you and Mickey Mouse on the radio. I will let you know what I want for Christmas: a pair of skates, a bicycle, bed-room slippers, nuts, and candy. Good-bye, Santa. Your loving friend, Elsa Harrison, Picton, Ont.

Dear Santa:–I would like you to bring me for Christmas this year a new suit of clothes and a pair of mackinaw rubbers and a bicycle and I guess that will be enough for this year as it is hard times. I will close for now wishing you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. I remain your little friend, Clarance Jones, Picton.

Dear Santa:–I expect I will see you at Eaton’s today. Santa, I am six years old. I started to school last fall. I go every day and like it. Santa would you please bring me a new blackboard, a leather coat and high boots. I go to church on Christmas night, so I will look for my present when I return. I’ll leave the door unlocked for you. Good-bye, Santa, I’ll be a good boy. Your friend, Eddie McCaw, Picton.

Dear Santa Claus:–I want you to please bring me a pair of bob skates, train, candies, and nuts, police outfit. Don’t forget to bring a collar for my dog, Andy. I also want a new sweater and a handkerchief. Our chimney was just cleaned out. Good-bye, from Gordon Lloyd, Hillier.

Dear Santa Claus:–I would like very much if you would bring me an electric train, a toy sword, and a jack-in-the-box. You can come up through the cold air register and it is the house on Centre St. with three strings of lights. Your little friend, Paul Walton.
