1914: Old Boys’ Column
Dear Sir:-Now that a good deal is being made of the exhibition to be held this fall, and as one of the Old Boys who hopes to be present with hundreds of others who have left the county to pursue their callings in other parts of Canada and elsewhere, I would like to call the attention of the Fair Executive to the fact that the Old Boys and Girls would like to see the various exhibits shown to the best advantage.
Prince Edward County should be better known as a place for the production of first class pure seed grain than it is. The soil formation, while not giving the heaviest yields of grain, lends itself to producing an excellent quality of plump seeds.
I am sure a good grain exhibit, well arranged in a favorable position, would prove to be one of the best attractions. Try it and see.
Dear Mr. Carter:-Enclosed please find my membership fee for the Prince Edward Old Boys’ Fair. It is surely a brilliant idea to have as many as possible of the Old Boys back for the Fair and to hold it under their patronage. It is sure to be the biggest and best County Fair that has ever been held in Canada. I would certainly like to be there personally but having spent a couple of months’ holidays in the dear old county last winter, it will be impossible for me to get there.
Wishing you the very best of success.
1954: Couple From Virginia Are Tourists Of Week
Mr. and Mrs. Robbins of Arlington, Virginia, were guests of Picton Rotary Club as Tourists of the Week at the club’s Tuesday noon luncheon. This is the second year that this popular publicity plan has been sponsored by Quinte’s Isle Tourist Association.
Tourist of the Week Mr. Robbins explained that their car was stopped by police as it left the Glenora ferry, and he wondered, at first, what infraction of traffic laws he had committed.
