The annual Angel Tree program will officially be opening their office doors for their 2020 program on Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Kinsmen Club of Picton Benson Hall at 56 King St.

Long time volunteer and Angel Tree Program Coordinator Sue Rose and her team will begin accepting applications from families who need to register for help no earlier than next Thursday.

COVID-19 protocols that adhere to provincial mandates regarding the coronavirus are being developed and will be in effect.

While intake applications will commence, conversely, the Angel Tree office will be open for individuals, businesses or teams to pick up Angels off the Christmas Tree. The hours for the Angel Tree office vary due to COVID-19 protocols so please call ahead.

The program has existed for over 30 years and has helped make Christmas morning bright for families who don’t have the means to celebrate. In addition to gifts, local grocery stores unite to supply goods for a Christmas box with traditional holiday foods and staples that help ensure no family goes hungry over the break.

The Children’s Foundation (TCF) has been serving children and youth in Hastings County since 1991 and in 2015 expanded to include Northumberland & Prince Edward Counties. The Children’s Foundation is an autonomous organization governed by its own Board of Directors and is the charitable arm of Highland Shores Children’s Aid (HSCA).

Additionally, TCF offers programs for families who have no affiliation to HSCA. Programs and services aim to educate and inspire members of the communities they serve and to effect change that bring people and financial resources together to improve the quality of life for at risk children and youth.
