Chris Railton Lockyer
January 9, 1898 – August 17, 1917
Middle son of five sons of the Late Martha and George Lockyer of Picton killed at Hill 70 in France near Vimy as a member of The Canadian Expeditionary Force. An accomplished athlete, Chris was a communications runner. Both Chris and his older brother Alec enlisted in 1915. Alec survived the war. Local surviving relatives include great nieces Rosemary Moore, Nancy Lockyer, Patricia Lockyer, Lana Lockyer Holmes and their families. Local surviving great nephews include Peter Lockyer, Paul Lockyer and Stephen Ward and their families. His nephew, Donald George Lockyer passed way on October 25th in Belleville. In memory of Chris, the name has been passed down through several generations, the latest being John (Jack) Christopher Lockyer, son of Amanda and Dylan Lockyer of Ottawa.
