On Monday July 10, the women of the Picton Golf & Country Club attended a short game clinic and fundraiser. Order of Canada Recipient and 8-time LPGA winner Sandra Post helped improve participant’s games and, in turn, the golfers helped to improve the lives of the young girls who attend the Reaching for Rainbows program.
Reaching for Rainbows offers after-school activities for local girls aged 6-9 from October through May, and provides a wide range of optional activities — such as yoga, dance, art, and sports — to suit different interests and meet the varying needs of the girls from day to day. A ratio of one volunteer or staff member to every two or three children allows the organization to provide support and encouragement, helping them to gain the confidence to express themselves and try new things.
County native Casey Ward, Director of Instruction at the Credit Valley G & CC also provided instruction at the short game clinic. Sponsors Tracey Dickson of Royal Heritage Realty, Joanne Coker Wealth Advisor for BMO Nesbit Burns and Laura Hryhorsky from a new Picton business The Golf Studio were on hand to facilitate door prizes.
Jane Wollenberg, Chair of the Board for Reaching for Rainbows, was pleased to be presented with a cheque in the amount of $1800.The event was facilitated by Women, Worth & Wellness and its founder Nancy Griffin.
