At the H J McFarland Memorial Home on Thursday May 30, 2019, Susan Mackie (nee Maathuis) passed away at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Ian Mackie, sister to the late Corrie Nanne, and Ben Maathuis, both of Holland. Loved mother of Joe Schejbal Jr., Chris Schejbal and his wife Marlene and the late Paul Schejbal (1967) and Jessie Cassidy (2015) and his wife Nancy. Loving grandmother to Sawyer, Sienna, Chris, Ben, Jordyn, Jody, Scott, and Jessica. Susan owned and operated several restaurants and business’ over the years, and managed Schejbal Real Estate for over a decade. She founded The Browsery in Gananoque, and assisted her sons with opening various business’ throughout Ontario. Susan was extremely hard working, dedicated and ambitious. She took great pride in helping her children, their families, and their business endeavors. Susan was an avid golfer and bridge player, and spent many winters with husband Ian at their Sebring, Florida home. Her sound business advice, direction and warm loving nature will be greatly missed. There will be a small family gathering to celebrate Suzanne’s life following cremation. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
