A young Prince Edward County resident who lost his life in an accident in November is being remembered through a Christmas time corporate philanthropy program.
Aunts (Sierra Flett and Celine Derouchie) and an uncle (Sam Flett) of the late Dalton Williams who are employees of McKesson Canada- a pharmaceutical distributorship in Trenton- proposed to the company that its annual giving program could memorialize their nephew.

McKesson agreed and donated $2,000 to the Loyalist Humane Society and contributed $2,500 to a memorial bench initiative through Quinte Conservation.
Williams enjoyed his time volunteering at the Loyalist Humane Society, bonding with the animals housed there and was a lover of outdoors and the trail system at Potter’s Creek. It’s hoped a second bench will be installed at one of QC’s Prince Edward County.
Connie Daley, a County local and Grandmother to Dalton Williams, is seeking donations to have a second memorial bench placed in Prince Edward County (PEC) in his memory.
“In addition to McKesson donating $2,000 to LHS, they have also generously donated $2,500 to Quinte Conservation and we’re starting with a bench at Potter’s Creek in memory of Dalton because he really liked it there,” said Daley to The Gazette. “I think the bench thing is a fantastic idea. The trails are beautiful but so long and QC let’s you put the bench along the trail where you want. And it’s nice to sit down and have a rest and then people will see his name and Dalton will never be forgotten.”
The memorial bench in Potter’s Creek will be installed in Sept.-Oct. 2023.
“I would just like to say thanks to all those who do donate, from the bottom of our hearts, his family,” Daley expressed. “And if you can’t donate that’s okay, if you’re out in the conservation area and you come across this bench just think that this boy loved the great outdoors and he loved these conservation areas, they made him so happy. His family loved him dearly and he is missed so much. This family truly lost a treasure.”
