Nancy Griffin was on her way to this year’s Rotary International meeting in Calgary, along with fellow Rotarian Libby Crombie, when she learned she had won Rotary’s District 7070 competition for the Les Faludy Leadership Award, awarded to a Club President who, in the judgement of the District Governor Team, provided the most outstanding leadership during the Rotary year. Ms. Griffin shares the honour with Binoy Luckoo of the Rotary Club of Toronto.
Ms. Griffin finishes her one-year term as President of the Rotary Club of Picton June 30.
She handed the torch to incoming President Jim JJ Johnston at Rotary’s Past Presidents’ Dinner at The CAPE on June 10.
“So shocking! So delighted! What an honour!” said the always effusive Ms. Griffin on first receiving the news. “I am very honoured to share this award with the Rotary Club of Toronto, which meets at the National Club, and I am deeply honoured, and very proud, as the 81st President of the Rotary Club of Picton to accept this award — and to be a champion for all Picton Rotarians enhancing as much as we can, both locally and globally, to make this incredibly challenging world a better place for so many!
“Our Rotary motto is ‘Service above Self’. We raise funds to support those in need — locally & globally.”
District 7070 includes 62 Rotary and Rotaract Clubs and more than 1864 members throughout Southern Ontario.
Ms. Griffin has just about completed a one-year term as President of the Rotary Club of Picton. She officially handed the torch to incoming President Jim JJ Johnston, who starts his term July 1, at Rotary’s Past Presidents’ Dinner at the CAPE on June 10.
