County residents can ring in 2025 in style with one of Canada’s top roots vocalists.
Multiple Juno Award nominee Shakura S’Aida and her band bring the soulful sounds of the 1970s to Base31 for a New Year’s Eve celebration that is not to be missed. Ms. S’Aida promises a night of contagious energy, dancing into the new year to a soundtrack of ’70s super hits from Elton John, Diana Ross, Earth, Wind & Fire, and others.
Ms. S’Aida is no stranger to Prince Edward County. She’s performed at Base31 multiple times. The show is her second NYE concert here. Her family once owned and operated The Stache on Main in Wellington, which was renowned for its magical New Year’s Eve events. Now, she’s back to recreate that magic with a spectacular performance.
Ms. S’Aida said she relishes the opportunity to cover a very important decade in the history of popular music.
“I’m really looking forward to a night where I can sing songs I’ve loved my entire life, sing along with the audience, dance and really have a great time. The ’70s was a time and place where music really came into its own and blossomed into several genres — rock, soul and then the disco era. It’s so eclectic and one of the times when musical tastes crossed over in a number of different ways.
“That era seems to be appreciated more and more as time goes by.”
