“It gets bigger every year,” said a thrilled Sophiasburg Recreation Committee’s Michael Farrell. “We can’t thank Krista Rosborough enough — she’s the main driver and did all the planning. Talk about a living legend.”
A total of 239 hunters registered for the easter egg hunt. With all adults in tow, about 400 attended in total. All enjoyed a free breakfast with coffee and hot chocolate, games, prizes, costumed characters like bunny rabbits, the crew from Healing with Horses, and a visit from the Fire Department, all in addition to the star attraction, the proverbial easter egg hunt.
Sophiasburg Councillor Bill Roberts donated a bicycle as first prize in competitions that included the annual Spring Bonnet Contest. It features children’s decorated bonnets which get more and more lavish and inventive every year.
The County Food Hub, Demorestville Women’s Institute, Healing With Horses, Sophiasburgh Volunteer Fire Department, and Back Forty Productions all donated and sponsored the event.
“Thanks to every single one of you who attended and had fun and soaked in the sun, ate some treats, hung with family and neighbours, and just enjoyed this fantastic community,” said Mr. Farrell.
“There were cars parked halfway to Demorestville,” noted a pleased Councillor Roberts. “Thank you so much to everyone involved. It was true Sophiasburgh community spirit!”
