An animal welfare call in Consecon turned violent on Monday and resulted in assault charges for a pair of local residents.
Shortly after 12 p.m. officers from the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a request for assistance from the Provincial Animal Welfare Service to attend a residence in Consecon with an animal inspector.
Officers attended the scene and after speaking with the individuals at the residence, officers were assaulted and a vehicle was damaged.
As a result, Gina Marshall, 42 from Prince Edward County, was charged with Resist peace officer – 129(a) – two counts; Dangerous operation – CC 320.13(1); Mischief – CC 430(1)(a) and Assault a peace officer- CC 270(1)(a).
Laverne Marshall, 42 from Prince Edward County, was charged with Resist peace officer – 129(a); Assault a peace officer- CC 270(1)(a) – three counts and Uttering threats – CC 264.1(1)(a).
Both individuals were released on undertakings and are to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on April 21, 2021.
