Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged an individual after an overnight occurrence earlier this week.

Around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday  officers received a call for service at an address on Big Island.

Reports from the scene were that an individual had been injured after having an item thrown at them.

Hastings Quinte Paramedic Services attended alongside OPP and treated the victim for minor injuries.

As a result of further investigation, Brennan Markland,  33, of Prince Edward County was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and two counts of mischief under $5000.

The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday April 19, 2023.
