A suspect wanted in a report of domestic abuse taking place Ameliasburgh earlier in the day was found hiding in a Picton-area attic by Prince Edward OPP Wednesday.
Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment charged the individual after receiving a 911 call on Wednesday, February 23, 2023 shortly after 5:30 a.m.
Officers responded to a 911 call at an address on County Road 3 in Prince Edward County and further investigation revealed that an assault had occurred in a domestic relationship and that there were currently multiple outstanding warrants for the suspect.
Attempts were made to locate the individual.
Later in the day, with the assistance of the East Region Community Street Crime Unit and the OPP Canine Unit, a warrant was executed at an address in Picton. Units located the individual hiding in the attic of the residence and arrested an individual and further charged them with domestic assault.
Combined with the charges from the outstanding warrant, the individual was held in custody and is to appear at a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Thursday February 23, 2023.
The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
