Picton’s Dylan Barsley has been charged in relation to an armed robbery at a Picton convenience store.
On Saturday, November 22 shortly before 1:30 a.m., officers with the Prince Edward Detachment responded to a reported robbery at the Circle K gas station on Paul Street. A masked man, allegedly armed with a handgun, fled the scene in a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was later seized.
Prince Edward OPP announced Monday that Mr. Barsley, 22, has been charged with robbery using a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, motor vehicle theft, disguise with intent, dangerous operation, flight from peace officer, and failure to comply with a release order.
Mr. Barsley remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville for a bail hearing.
Numerous resources were deployed to ensure public safety while police searched for the individual and the vehicle involved. Coordinated efforts by the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Units, Forensic Identification Services and the Prince Edward County OPP Crime Unit resulted in the identification and arrest of the suspect.
