March Break is always an exciting time at the library. Each year we plan a variety of activities for children and youth. On Saturday, March 11, join us at 2 p.m. for a performance by Mary Lambert at the Picton Branch Library.
Mary Lambert’s highly interactive musical performance is filled with music about robins, frogs, baby chicks, green grass, budding trees, and all things spring!….. We will take a musical trip to a tropical destination to escape the winter blues, and then enjoy singing about all the wonderful things that come to life in spring right here at home! Song, dance, colourful costumes and props and LOTS of audience participation are all a part of this 50 minute performance.
Have you heard of “Cosplay”? (Costumes + play) Discover what it’s all about on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Picton Branch Library. Embody a favourite character from anime, a movie, or book, or create something all your own. Learn how to take your ideas from vision to reality! Create something for your own Cosplay. Some building and crafting materials provided. Feel free to bring something you’re already working on!
Ages 10+ On Wednesday, March 15, children ages 8+ can take part in the Great Robot Race! This will be held at the Wellington Branch Library from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Picton Branch Library. You’ll have the opportunity to experiment with the Library’s robots and then participate in the Great Robot Race!
From 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, discover voice acting at the Picton Branch Library. Do you know whose voice you’re listening to when you watch your favourite cartoon or listen to an audiobook? Learn all about voice acting with Amanda, “Real Amanda” on Twitch, and then try recording your own voice using the library’s audio equipment. Voice acting has benefits beyond just being able to do it professionally – it also helps with learning to control your voice (both fluency and volume) and gaining confidence.
Ages 8+ On Friday, March 17, we’ll have a Toddler Tea Party & Storytime at 10:30 a.m. at the Picton Branch Library. Join us for a special edition of our regular toddler storytime featuring a tea party. Bring your favorite stuffed animal to introduce to your friends.
In addition to these special programs, you are also welcome to drop into any branch during open hours. Each branch will have drop-in activities or crafts available for you, from colouring to simple experiments with magnets and balance and more. If you have any questions about this year’s March Break programs at the library, contact Michele at (613) 399-2023 or email [email protected].
