Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) laid three impaired driving charges last week.
Sept. 29 – Just before 4 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Bond Road. One driver was arrested for DUI and transported to detachment for further testing. Daniel Prinzen, 26, from Prince Edward County, was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and speeding.
Mr. Prinzen is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 25. His vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days and license suspended for 90 days.
Oct. 1 – Shortly after 7 p.m. officers received a report of a complaint involving a theft on Loyalist Parkway near Carrying Place. Officers attempted to stop a vehicle without success. They later located the vehicle in Wellington and arrested the driver. A search led to the seizure of a quantity of suspected cocaine. Todd Goodmurphy, 53 from Prince Edward County was charged with failure to stop, refusal to comply, theft under $5,000 – shoplifting, and possession of a schedule one substance – cocaine. Mr. Goodmurphy is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 18. His vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days and license suspended for 90 days.
Oct. 3 – Shortly before 3 p.m. officers received a traffic complaint near County Road 23 and Victoria Road. Officers located the vehicle and spoke with the driver. An approved screening device was administered and as a result, the driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing. William Lee, age 83, from Belleville, was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
Mr. Lee is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 11, 2023. His vehicle impounded for a period of seven days and license suspended for 90 days.
