Rock hounds of all stripes will head to Picton this weekend for the second annual Rock and Gem Expo.
Over 20 vendors from across Ontario and Quebec will be in attendance.
Organizer Kate Cunningham notes there will be fossils and mineral specimens from around the world as well as fluorescent minerals, jewellery, art and handmade items, oddities, & more.
“Items are at all different price points starting at $1 and up,” she said. “Each vendor is knowledgeable about their specific items and where they originate. There are also two gemologists on site who can identify gemstones.”
For children, there will be a pirate-themed geode cracker where people can pick an unopened geode, and spin a pirate ship wheel to break it open and reveal the crystals inside.
This is an all ages event, perfect for families and kids to explore. The Expo runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, July 4 and Sunday July 5 at Huff Estates Arena. There’s free parking onsite.
Admission is $5 per person or $10 per family. Children 14 & under are free.
