The municipality is once again offering the municipal financial relief grant to low income households in The County. Applications are being accepted up to July 15th 2024. Those who apply will be notified by the end of August and then their credits will be applied ahead of September bills.
Qualifying households can apply for relief on their municipal bills for their primary resident on either property taxes or water/wastewater bills.
Tenants who pay for water/wastewater services, and who earn $32,240/year or less (for single occupants), or $64,480/year or less (for multiple occupants) before deductions can apply for a credit of $350 toward their water bill. Households that earn $20,000/year or less would receive a $500 credit toward their water bill.
Applicants need to include a copy of their most recent water bill and a Notice of Assessment (NOA) from Revenue Canada for ALL household occupants.
Property owners who pay municipal tax on their primary residence in Prince Edward County may be eligible if they earn $32,240/year or less (for single occupants), or $64,480/year or less (for multiple occupants) before deductions. They can apply for a credit of $750 toward their property taxes. Households that earn $20,000/year or less would receive a $1,000 credit toward their property taxes. Applicants need to include a copy of their most recent property tax bill and a Notice of Assessment (NOA) from Revenue Canada for ALL household occupants. Line 15000 from the Notice of Assessment will be used to verify income and eligibility.
Applications are taken online or the form can be printed and submitted by email or mail. The form can also be dropped off. There will be two help sessions with the first in Wellington on May 22nd, Wellington Community Centre from 10am to 1pm and the second in Picton on June 5th at the Picton Town Hall from 1pm to 4pm.
