A boat burst into flames off the shore near Long Point Road in Milford Friday afternoon about 1pm. There were no injuries.

“This was a joint response between Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue, the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (Trenton). Thankfully the occupants were able to get off the boat, and they made it to shore unharmed. As a public safety message I would like to remind boaters to wear their lifejackets and to ensure their vessels and passengers are prepared for a safe voyage,” said PEC Fire and Rescue Chief Patrick Howe.
