STOKES, Malcolm Herbert ‘Mal’
September 18, 1938 – August 6, 2023
Entered into rest at Hospice Prince Edward on Sunday, August 6, 2023, Mal Stokes of Picton died at the age of 84. He was the son of the late Herbert and Dorothy Stokes (nee Holder) and the beloved husband of Carol (nee Wilson, formerly Till). He was the loving father to Deb Thompson (Keith) of Picton, Gregory Till of Halifax, NS, Elizabeth Till of Orillia, Stephen Stokes (Deborah) of Saint John N.B. and Carolyn Till (Brad) of Picton and grandchildren Breanna, Bradley, and Mackenzie. Mal will be remembered fondly by his niece Cathy Johnston, nephew Dr. Dean Stokes, and Cousin Linda Stokes. Mal is predeceased by his brother Dr. Ronald Stokes. Mr. Stokes rested at Rushnell Funeral Homes – Picton Chapel, 33 Main Street (613-476-2450). A Memorial Service will be held at Bloomfield United Church on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Mal was a graduate of York Memorial Collegiate Institute and attended Ryerson and York University. He spent many years in automotive sales management. He served as a Councillor in Coldwater, Ontario where he started the conservation club and was instrumental in bringing back the trumpeter swan to the Wye Marsh. As an active boater, he was a member of the Canadian Power and Sail. Mal was a Mason and a Shriner and on retiring, he drove school bus for approximately 20 years. Mail had a great zest for life and loved boating, where he spent his summers on the water.
