After a week of somewhat milder weather, Jack Frost returned with a vengeance on Sunday. Monday, the thermometer dropped to ten below zero and kept very cold all day.
Many of the country roads are now in bad condition for driving. A man driving from Cherry Valley to Picton counted 145 pitch-holes. This is characteristic of the general condition.
Wellington-Mrs. Pheobe Rorabeck has returned from staying a month with her brother at Lindsay. She also visited Mrs. Lane and Mrs. VanAlstine at Port Hope.

Mrs. W.D.Ruttan, a Picton native, marks her 101st birthday on February 17th. She was an active worker for the late Nellie McClung for women’s suffrage.
County Warden Calvin Hughes placed a wreath at the County Memorial during a service of mourning for King George VI.
Picton Collegiate Dramatic Club is rehearsing the play “Take Care of my Little Girl”.
1972:
South Marysburgh Township moved Monday night to set up a formal fire protection system, naming township resident Arthur Ford as fire chief.
Another successful smorgasbord was held by the Picton Chapter O.E.S. on Monday. Door prizes were won by Mrs. Hazel Aman and Mrs. Shirley Hambly.

The Ministry of Environment is worried that a planned quarry expansion in Hillier Township might harm Limestone Creek and cause problems with residential wells.
Mrs. Nellie Cockburn attended the Presbyterian W.M.S. meeting at Miss Chrissie Mitchell’s, Maple Villa, on Thursday.
Mrs. Flo Bell has been at the home of her daughter in Frankford, staying with the family while they are on holiday.
