It is with profound sadness that our huge, loving family must announce the passing of our beloved Rita Struthers at the age of 70, on April 30th, 2020 following a brief battle with cancer. Rita is predeceased by her parents Alton & Margaret Williams, and the absolute love of her life Calvin P. Struthers. Survived by children Shawn (Beth) Struthers, Tanya (Jason) Dafoe and Earla Struthers, along with her grandchildren Shawna, Ryan, Hunter, Tyler, Seth, Rita-Marie, August, Christopher and step-grandchildren Marissa and Makayla. Survived by 7 adoring sisters; Patricia (Garry) Heffernan, Eleanor (late Walt) Filonik, Earla (Neil) Jarvis, twin Freda (John) Barrett, Gail (late Gord) Leavitt, Donna Fraser, Cheryl (Tim) McCormack and 4 loving brothers Lawrence (Helen) Williams, Tommy Williams, Kim (Linda) Williams, Dan (Sue) Williams and many, many nieces and nephews who will all miss her dearly. Rita worked as a PSW and would often be seen playing her guitar for the residents. She had many friends and everyone was always welcome into her home. She had a caring heart, loving soul and could make anyone laugh with her wonderful sense of humour. Above all else, Rita loved spending time with her massive family, playing cards or dice, going on road trips, babysitting the grandkids, playing her guitar and collecting Elvis memorabilia….. Elvis was the only man she would ever leave her husband for! Rita was rarely seen without her fedora on her head. She always made you feel loved and in return she was loved by all. In the heart breaking sadness of her passing, we do take comfort in knowing that Rita has joined Calvin now because she missed him so very much this past 12 years. There will be no funeral service at Rita’s request but one day we will honour her with a huge celebration of life when we are able to do so. So stay tuned and we will show you how a real party goes down, one that will make her proud. Eternal love and cheers to a beautiful Daughter, Wife, Mother, Sister, Cousin, Aunt and friend. XO
