For as long as there’s been a need at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital, the Rotary Club of Picton has answered the call.
For more than two decades, the service club has assisted the PECMH Foundation with vital medical equipment purchases. More recently, it has staunchly “Backed the Build,” mounting one successful fundraiser after another for the new hospital.
Over the past 23 years, the Rotary Club of Picton has presented over $230,000 to the Foundation, thanks to Cash Calendar Sales, the Lilac Ride, the annual Easter weekend Waterfalls Tour, Uncork Canada / Wall of Wine, the Annual Golf Tournament, and more.
At Tuesday’s Rotary Meeting at the Prince Edward Yacht Club, the Foundation’s Executive Director Shannon Coull announced that a Procedure Room in the Ambulatory Services Department in the new hospital will be named in the club’s honour to celebrate its lasting contribution.
“For more than two decades, the Rotary Club of Picton has demonstrated what it means to invest in the health of this community. The commitment to the Back the Build campaign is helping to make the vision for our new hospital a reality, and their ongoing support of priority medical equipment ensures that our care teams have the modern tools they need to deliver exceptional care close to home. We are grateful for Rotary’s spirit of service which continues to make a lasting difference for local healthcare,” she said.
“Your ongoing support helps ensure the new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital will be equipped with modern tools, technology, and diagnostic equipment, including a CT Scanner for the first time in our County’s history,” Ms. Coull added.
Rotary Club of Picton President Jim JJ Johnston said the Rotary team has served the community for all of its 82 years.
“One of the most important things we could have done and continue to do is to support our Hospital, and of course the ‘Back of the Build’ Program,” President Johnson said. “This Rotary team has been enthusiastic from day one of the Back the Build program, all working together to Unite for Good, As Service above self is one of our key messages, we have a club full of teammates that believe that and live it every day.”
