The OPP has charged two young people with threatening Prince Edward Collegiate Institute.
On Wednesday, April 23 at 1:30 p.m., police received information of threats directed toward the combined elementary and high school on Barker Street.
With assistance from the County Crime Unit and the Tactics and Rescue Unit, two search warrants were conducted at two locations within the County the following day.
The OPP could not confirm a list containing the names of students and staff was discovered as part of their investigation.
Both of the accused were held for bail hearings at the Ontario Court of Justice.
In a letter to parents, PECI Principal Kim Myderwyk said staff were aware there was a threat made within the school community and “we are working collaboratively with the OPP to investigate and to seek clarity on this matter.”
“We are thankful for the partnership with the OPP and people who assist us in keeping the school safe so that we are able to provide a secure learning environment,” she said. The investigation is continuing.
