After opening its first storefront location earlier this month, KC Closet Fashion Boutique at 106 Main St. in Bloomfield isn’t a secret anymore.
According to its owner, this fashion forward women’s clothing store is exactly what the county has been waiting for.
The store is the brainchild of Nicole Colterman and inspired by her late mother Karen.
The Belleville native has opened a smart boutique at the east end of Main street where a new restaurant is set to open later this summer.
“We carry eight different brands that are hard to find and they are hand selected lines,” Colterman told the Gazette. “They come from Los Angeles, England and Montreal.”
Colterman developed a love of fashion shortly after she enrolled in the Mode Elle program at the age of 12 and that love led her to enrol in the fashion design program at Humber College in Toronto.
The passing of her mother was a key moment in the development of her first store and Colterman’s foray into the retail side of fashion.
“She always wanted me to follow my dreams and open a retail store,” Colterman said. “It was something we shared and the name KC Closet comes from her initials.”
Colterman moved to the county about a year ago with her fiance and said she’s fallen in love with the community.
“I”ve visited the county having grown up in Belleville and Bloomfield is always one of my favourite places to shop. Now with the new restaurant moving in next door, it seemed like the perfect time and place to open KC Closet.
Well known in the local area for their seasonal pop up shops and private shopping parties the trendy line of boho chic is straight off the runway and demand for her products has grown so high that a brick and mortar store that was once seemed out of reach has now become reality.
In terms of style, Colterman said the store focusses on providing unique hand-selected, bohemian-styled apparel and accessories and that local residents and visitors haven’t seen this type of modern clothing with a modest price tag.
