Three members of the Picton Arm Wrestling Club brought home six medals from the Canadian Arm Wrestling Championships hosted in Cape Breton,
Nova Scotia July 1st weekend, plus one induction to the Canadian Arm Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Club members Troy Eaton, John “Jack” McAlpine and Michael MacInally competed and represented PAWC and Team Ontario, each
bringing home gold medals.

Prince Edward County’s own Troy Eaton was inducted into the Canadian Arm Wrestling Hall of Fame, a highlight of a very successful career in armwrestling, which has included several  provincial and national titles as well as his first world title in 2022.

“This is a huge honour for me,” Mr. Eaton said. “Follow your passions and work hard at them and great things will come.”

Mr. Eaton is a teacher, mentor and coach and has been the recipient of many notable awards,  the most recent the Black Spike award and The Murray Park award.

Mr. Eaton competed Saturday, July 1 in the Grand Masters 90 KG class, winning two gold medals and a bronze medal in Sunday’s open class.

Mr. McAlpine competed in the Senior Grand Masters HeavyWeight Class and won a gold and silver medal.

Mr. MacInally pulled in the Youth Under 18 60 KG class, earning two gold.

The club, which was founded by Richard Snider and Troy Eaton in 1989, was revitalized two years ago and has 25 members. They are thrilled to once again host the Picton Fair Arm Wrestling Tournament for youth at the Picton Fairgrounds in the Curling Club building September 8, 9 and 10, 2023.
