Harmina VanGROOTHEEST
September 10, 1935-December 13, 2020
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend, Harmina Johanna VanGrootheest (nee Prinzen). Predeceased by her parents Dora and Bernard Prinzen, loving husband Tony VanGrootheest, brothers Marinus, John, Derk and Bill and her sisters JoHanna Vos (Tom) and Truida Lammers (Hendrick), and brother-in-law Fred Hoven. Sister to Henk and Didi, Annie Hoven, Ben and Margie, and sister-in-law to Jake and Bep VanGrootheest, Mary Tammel, Audrey Hummel, Hannah Prinzen and Betty Prinzen. Mother to Janet Crosby (Brian), Ben, Casey and Dorothy. Oma to Jaclyn, Tony, Ryan, Maria, Bryce, Emily, Lauren, Lisa, David and Adam. Grote Oma to Walt. Harmien was welcoming, warm, hard-working, witty, selfless, generous, thoughtful, determined, resilient, fiercely loyal, intuitive, strong-willed and genuine. Her laugh was infectious. As soon as you entered her kitchen, she made you feel appreciated and part of her family, and she loved to serve others. Her passions revolved around cooking and baking, milking the cows and being out in nature, cultivating crops on her Farmall tractor. Harmien was a remarkable woman and she will be truly missed by all those who had the fortune to know and love her. A very deep appreciation goes out for the compassionate care she received from her nurses Kim van Haarlem and Anne Robinson of the Victorian Order of Nurses, Amber Glasspoole, NP, Mary Stever, RN and Drs. Baldwin, Nancekovill, Blanchard, and Whattam. A special thank you to the healthcare team of nurses, PSWs, doctors and staff at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital who were so very good to her– it is impossible to name every one. If desired, donations to the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital would be greatly appreciated. https://pecmhf.ca/
Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.
Love never ends.
