VAN IHINGER, David John “Dave”
June 15, 1964 – May 19, 2023
Entered into rest at Kingston Health Sciences Centre, Kingston, on Friday May 19, 2023,Dave Van Ihinger of Picton, died at the age of 58. Dave was the son of the late Roger and Sandra Van Ihinger (nee Newman) and was the loving husband for 38 years of Ann (nee Emkeit). He was the loving father of Vanessa Van Ihinger (Jordan) of Picton, and Hayley Ebbers (Adam) of Centreville, and was the dearest grandfather of Sadie. Dave is survived by his siblings Michele Parker (Mike) of Aliston, and predeceased by the late Richard. He will be fondly remembered by his niece Christine and nephew Otto. Dave was nothing short of a hero; surviving Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Stage 3 and 4, a stem cell transplant, surviving a stroke, heart attack, and a major car accident. None of these life changing events stopped his will to push forward, overcoming pain and illness, living each day to the fullest. He remained always grateful. David was known to many as a kind and giving man who would never not give to others what he could. His strong sense of humor and quick comebacks entertained not only family, but many friends. He was an amazing father, friend, and spouse and will never be forgotten. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Picton Memorial Hospital and Kingston General Hospital – Cancer Centre, the ICU Kidd 4 and Kidd 2, for their compassionate care that they gave to Dave spread over 16 years. The family is and will always be eternally grateful. Dave rested at Rushnell Funeral Homes – Picton Chapel, 33 Main Street (613-476-2450). Service will be held in the chapel at Rushnell Funeral Home – Picton (33 Main St, Picton) on Saturday May 27th, at 3pm with visitation for 1 hour prior to the Service. Dave loved all the animals and it was his wish that any donations be made to the Loyalist Humane Society. Online condolences and to share memories of Dave, please visit: www.rushnellfuneralhomes.com
