A traffic complaint lodged with Prince Edward OPP near Wellington resulted in charges for a 24-year-old Hamilton man.
Local police have charged Kyle Russell with flight from officers, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of an imitation weapon, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and driving a motor vehicle without an interlock ignition device.
Prince Edward OPP were alerted to a motorist driving erratically some time around 6 p.m. July 30. Police attempted to stop the vehicle near Swamp College road but the pursuit was called off in the interest of public safety.
Belleville Police, given a description of the driver and vehicle, then spotted Mr. Russell and pulled him over without incident.
Prince Edward Constable Aaron Miller applauded those vigilant citizens who continue to apprise local police of potentially dangerous drivers.
“Once again, we thank the public for letting us know what they see out there on the roads,” PC Miller said. “Community safety in Prince Edward County is a team effort.”
