October 27–December 1
2–4pm
Join Joanne Hoang for this beginners/intermediate 5-week course on making botanical paper! Participants will learn the entire process of how to make paper from locally harvested plants, and how to create a sculpture with your handmade paper and natural materials. The course will begin by harvesting plants. From there, Joanne will guide participants through the different stages (cook, rinse, beat, form, press, dry) it takes to create a piece of paper. Participants will also learn how to dye paper pulp using local tannins and natural dyes from the garden. On the last day, participants will use the paper they’ve created as a material to cover their paper sculpture.
For ages 15+. Classes take place at the County Arts Lab, Unit 2E, Picton Armoury Building. A sliding scale fee system is in place to ensure accessibility.
5 Sunday afternoons from 2-4 PM from October 27th to December 1st, 2024. No class on November 10th.
