Want to understand how layers of paint can describe a subject? Working from chosen photographs, we will think in terms of separations, from the base of a composition to the final flourish. Step-by-step instruction will create a better understanding of shape, composition and colour in terms of creating a work of art, while various stages of progress will be acknowledged and celebrated.
We’ll discuss art historical references and work with various skill building exercises in a supportive and encouraging environment. With personalized guidance, you will improve your paint mixing and brush handling techniques. Beginners are welcome as well as more seasoned painters, as we learn from our own and each other’s experiences.
Don’t forget to bring a few photographs of choices for potential subjects (nothing too complicated!) to the first class.
