About the Huron Harp School Prince Edward County Retreat 2024
Huron Harp School is based in Goderich, ON, where Director Sharon Johnston has created a community of harpists that gather regularly to learn and play together. They are very active in Huron County and beyond, performing as soloists, small ensembles, and larger groups, in a variety of settings. They can be found playing in nursing homes, hospices, churches, and occasionally give concerts which include over 20 harpists.

HHS sponsors a yearly harp retreat, open to anyone who plays the harp, always in a beautiful location. These week long retreats involve a 2 hour harp class every day, with the rest of the day available to rest, relax, and explore the area. Retreats have taken place in Tobermory, Sauble Beach, Manitoulin Island, and Grand Manan, New Brunswick. This year we are delighted to come to Prince Edward County with 16 harpists for the last week in August.

Sharon Johnston leads the retreats, and specializes in community-building within a musical setting. After a few days of classes, all harpists can play together, at all levels, and the emphasis is on enjoying our musical collaboration. Wherever the retreats take place, she is always looking for places to perform in a casual setting.
