April 26
12.30–5.30pm
In this hands-on workshop, participants will create a lifelike paper replica of the bloodroot plant. You’ll craft every component from the delicate white bloom and leaves to the roots and vibrant red rhizome — what gives the plant its memorable name. Through individual and group demonstrations, you’ll learn techniques to paint, fold, cut, and assemble materials into a realistic botanical specimen. Using watercolour paints, wire, clay, and different types of paper, you’ll transform simple materials into an exquisite piece of art with basic tools like scissors and paintbrushes.
The course also features a brief informational session by Dropseed Nursery, where you’ll learn about bloodroot and other native plant species of Prince Edward County. By the end of this workshop, you’ll not only have a newfound appreciation for PEC’s flora but also new skills to express your admiration through the art of paper flowers.
