Base31 is eager to welcome the community back to its historic site and celebrate the start of summer, with free access site-wide and behind-the-scenes tours around key spaces, including the Exhibition Hall, Drill Hall RBC Stage, and The Commissary.

It all kicks off Friday with a site-wide open house from 2pm to 6pm where visitors can explore the District at their own pace. Visitors can be the first of the season to test out an e-bike at Pedego, peek inside Melt Gallery, and wind down with a friendly game of pickleball at Fairgrounds. Prizes, live music sets, and featured food and drink specials at The Commissary begin on Friday, encouraging guests to grab a drink, pull up a seat, and stay awhile.
Toast to the start of the season with standout musical performances from:
Rock Cut – 4:30pm, Friday, May 15th
Astrid Young – 12:30pm, Saturday, May 16th
Cue the Funk – 4:30pm, Saturday, May 16th
DJ Dames – 6:30pm, Saturday May 16th
Performances are free and open to all ages. Eating, dancing, and singing along is more than encouraged.
We’re also thrilled to announce that Charlotte Langley, a prominent Canadian chef and founder of Nice Cans, is bringing her cult following and unparalleled menu to The Commissary with Chef Char's Snack Shack; a specialty sandwich and wrap snack shack focused on out-of-the-box ingredients and bold flavour combinations.

Whether visitors are experiencing Base31 for the first time or returning for the season, this is the community-wide invitation to join in the celebration and kick off the season in the heart of the County.
