Unlock Your Inner Story is a four-week creative workshop designed for creatives of all levels, including those who don’t identify as writers — but who have stories, instincts, and memories waiting to be voiced. Drawing on creative non-fiction and elements of screenwriting, in the “Yes, And” spirit of improvisation, we treat every idea as welcome and every thought is free to spark the next. There are no wrong turns, only doorways into creative exploration and play.

Each session begins with something real and concrete — an object, a room, a person, a photograph — and uses it as a portal into memory and imagination. Week 1 opens with object-based storytelling and the craft of specificity. Week 2 moves into memory and sensory detail, using guided visualization to unlock the emotional truth held in the spaces of our past. Week 3 turns toward the people who shaped us, working with a three-part character study (the Triptych) and the craft principle of wound, flaw, want, and need. Week 4 brings everything together through a single photograph, exploring story as a series of moments and closing with a freewrite that draws on all four weeks.

No expertise is required — only a willingness to show up, pay attention, and follow what feels alive. By the end, each participant leaves with several written fragments, a completed character triptych, and a renewed connection to their inner storyteller: the part of them that remembers, observes, imagines, and feels.
